Echinodermata, Gogia spiralis

• Gogia spiralis was a small animal with a body shaped like a vase on a stalk.

• The stalk was attached to the mud, and the mouth opened at the top of the body.

• The mouth was surrounded by a double row of spiral arms that extended upward and captured small creatures or particles in the water.

• The species Gogia spiralis gets its name from the spiral shape of the arms.

• The genus Gogia includes several species found in North America and western Europe. They seem to be restricted to Cambrian sediments.
